Lynn Ivey, President

Lynn Ivey’s first career was as a national banking executive. She held regional and national leadership positions in mortgage and retail banking during a career that spanned more than 25 years.

Lynn left her banking career in April 2004 when she realized how much her parents needed her while her father was caring for her mother who had Alzheimer’s disease. It was the start of a new and exciting journey. Lynn saw how critical adult day care was to her mother’s socialization and medical care and to her father’s need for a respite, without requiring them to move her from her home of 46 years in Wilmington, NC.

This rewarding experience inspired Lynn to launch The Ivey® in Charlotte, NC, in January 2005. Her goal was to create a national model that not only would provide outstanding care in a beautiful, lodge-style setting for individuals living with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other long-term conditions, but also would offer a supportive environment for families coping with the challenges of care-giving. The Ivey opened for business in January 2008 and in 2009 became a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.

In the years since Lynn has started on this inspiring journey, Lynn Ivey and The Ivey have been profiled or featured in AOL Jobs and Careers, The Charlotte Observer, SouthPark Magazine, Charlotte Weekly, The Charlotte Business Journal, Today’s Charlotte Woman, WCNC-TV, and WFAE, Charlotte’s NPR station.

In community involvements, Lynn is a member of the Aging Resource Network and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Aging Coalition and serves on Board Committees of the Western NC Chapter of The Alzheimer’s Association. Also active in organizations that support and promote small business owners, Lynn is a member of the Charlotte Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and a Pathfinder member of the Business Innovation and Growth (BIG) Council.

Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from East Carolina University and a business degree from Peace College in Raleigh, N.C.
