OUR HISTORY
CEO and Founder Lynn Ivey developed The Ivey as a tribute to her mother, who had Alzheimer’s disease, as well as to her father, who was her mother’s loving caregiver for many years. Seeing that the best solution for both of her parents was adult day care for her mother, Lynn created The Ivey as a national model to reach the growing population of older adults.
Development and construction on the beautiful, lodge-style facility began in 2005. The Ivey officially opened its doors to the public in January 2008. Throughout its first year and a half of operations, The Ivey continuously refined its business model to reflect the changing economic environment.
Now a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, the four cornerstones of The Ivey’s offerings are:
(1) socialization and stimulation of the mind and body; (2) medical and personal care services; (3) healthy and delicious meals; and (4) family caregiver resources.
The Ivey is continuously refining and building on the progress it’s already made to increase ways to serve a broader population with additional programs and services.
