Job Summary
The Development Manager plays a foundational role in preparing the organization for a strong and sustainable long-term legacy within the Charlotte community. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this position is responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive revenue growth through increased memberships and charitable contributions.
This role focuses on building and nurturing long-term relationships with The Ivey’s core stakeholders, including current and former member families, brain health workshop attendees and alumni, offsite outreach participants, current and past donors, corporate sponsors, and grantors. Success in this position requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a mission-driven, community-centered environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Manager operates across multiple functional areas of The Ivey, including but not limited to:
- Fundraising and revenue development through individual giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, and memberships.
- Relationship management with donors, members, partners, and community stakeholders.
- Support of life enrichment programs and brain health/education workshops.
- Front desk and manager-on-duty support as needed.
- Social media, website content, public relations, and other marketing efforts.
- Participation in facility management when necessary.
- Development and launch of new program offerings, such as Parkinson’s Power.
The role includes daytime and evening responsibilities, on-site and off-site events, and occasional weekend hours depending on programming and event needs.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking, presentations, and media or television appearances.
- Proficiency with computers and technology, including digital communication and marketing tools such as ZOOM, Microsoft Teams, and Sales Force (or related) CRM software.
- The ability to work effectively in a small organization with small teams - demonstrating flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability - maintaining a physical presence on campus.
- Comfort operating in evolving environments, with an ability to balance competing priorities in complex and undefined scenarios.
- The ability to serve as and uphold the brand voice.
- Demonstrated public and private support of The Ivey’s policies, procedures, leadership, safety practices, and confidentiality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in development, fundraising, non-profit leadership, or related field.
- Proven success in relationship-based fundraising and community engagement.
- Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a small, flexible, mission-driven organization preferred.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated comfort with computers, excellent working knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office software programs, and video conferencing software such as ZOOM and Microsoft Teams.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all written and verbal communications, desire and proficiency in proofreading written work for punctuation, grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and brand voice.
- Obtain & maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certification from an approved agency, i.e., American Red Cross
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Ivey is a general health-oriented environment with possible exposure to infectious/contagious diseases and hazardous materials. Frequent movement is required throughout the building and campus, including frequent amounts of standing and walking; moderate amounts of balancing, stopping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching as well as upper extremity motor control, coordination, and finger work. Position requires medium strength requirements with occasional need for heavy work, including assisting staff and clients or members with transfers and ambulation up to 200 pounds, lifting and carrying equipment from the ground up to table height up to 45 pounds.
